BOOK THE INSIDER PICK
Your best slowdown
experience
begins here...
Saleghes Dolomites could be described as a Slowdown for active adventurers who love art, architecture, and design. Here, it is impossible to resist exploring the cycling and hiking trails or white slopes in the winter, which takes you to the very heart of the Dolomites but also allows you to take time to relax gently in the comfort of a fine curated homestay.
Slowdown value: Rooted in nature
In a valley that stubbornly climbs towards the highest mountain peaks, space is the greatest value and at the same time a limitation. With strict regulations on how much space can be built, Oskar, the hotel owner, found inspiration during his trips to New York, where he learned a new dimension of thinking and placing architecturally perfect buildings on a small piece of land.
Ladstätter and Taschler's team of architects from Archilab in Brunico best understood his vision for sustainability and timeless architecture, which will form and visually enter the given surroundings. They designed a timeless dialogue with nature and connected tradition with modern and functional architecture, which creates a unique experience of living in the Gardena valley and at the same time immediately connects you with nature and the authenticity of the mountain world.
Slowdown value: Architectural expression
The inspiration for the hotel was a haystack and its linear lines. Architecture is a new dimension that guides how you spend your vacation. It is a visual stimulation of experiencing the space and time you will spend in this place. Saleghes Dolomites, with its efficient location, offers the beauty of living in the slowdown style.
In addition to architecture, Saleghes Dolomites stands out with its exceptional aesthetic dimension, which his wife Ursula added to the hotel with her precise feeling for furnishing space through design and art. The moment you enter you immediately feel peace and comfort. At the same time, the extremely warm hospitality that the third generation, daughter Marie, brings to the hotel. Together, they are an exceptional trio, individuals who add a "slowdown effect" to the hotel and add genuine cosmopolitan hospitality to space and time.
"In Saleghes Dolomites, nature is an extension of architecture, which is always present and forms the outer part of the living space."
SALEGHES DOLOMITES
Slowdown value: Nature as a Design element
In Saleghes Dolomites, nature is an extension of architecture, which is always present and forms the outer part of the living space. The meticulously curated outdoor garden and the surrounding nature make the perception of the space even more special. The experience of sitting on the balcony, garden, or common garden areas offers a real "slowdown" break, as you are always in close contact with nature, which relaxes and provides shelter. The common thread throughout the entire hotel is the use of natural materials that ensure a sustainable stay. The exterior facade is entirely made of larch wood, and the dark color is a natural protective color, without chemicals or artificial substances.
"The experience of sitting on the balcony, garden, or common garden areas offers a real "slowdown" break, as you are always in close contact with nature, which relaxes, astonishes, and provides shelter."
Slowdown Value: A curated space of relaxation
Art pieces are not just a decoration but also a link to the stories of the local population and the history of this valley.
The selected works that complement the hotel are all made by local artists, therefore they add authentic energy through creativity and the materials from which the works of art are created and form a unique and thoughtful part of the hotel's "slowdown" experience.
Slowdown value: Aesthetically curated spaces
The Slowdown element is their carefully curated space, which, in addition to natural materials and selected textures, also intertwines design and art. Ursula comes from a family steeped in art. As the daughter of a painter, she sees the dialogue between art and the interior as a basis that creates a space with a special energy that interweaves calmness and comfort from the very moment you enter the hotel.
Slowdown value: Breakfast delivery
Saleghes Dolomites offers the comfort of home in every way. Even the breakfast has been thoughtfully designed to fit the concept of the homestay at its best. Every morning at the time you set, a basket of fresh goodies that you choose from the list will be delivered to your apartment door.
The idea is to provide you with selected quality from local producers and the region. In this way, they give you the freedom to eat breakfast in the "comfort of a home", in your pajamas, on the balcony, on the terrace, wherever and whenever your heart desires.
"We just loved the bread and pastries delivered from the local and at the same time the oldest bakery from the Gardena Valley. The classic baguette and croissant will take you right to France. They are exquisite."
SLOWDOWN HOTELS
Slowdown with a good book
Slowdown value: Immerse into stories of the place
On the second floor, they have created a cozy little space filled with selected books that are also an invitation to take time and enjoy the moment in the day away from our digital devices and to find something authentic and original with a good book.
You will not only get to know the stories and inspirations behind the art pieces, but you will also get to know the owners Oskar and Ursula in a new way. Oskar is a big fan of architecture, so in the book collection, you will find selected works from where he drew inspiration for the hotel. And Ursula, as an art lover, will introduce you to the world of local artists through their stories in art books.
"Slowdown the day with the majestic sunsets."
SLOWDOWN HOTELS
Slowdown value: Evening retreat
For evening relaxation, you can take advantage of the pleasant terrace, which is surrounded by a beautifully curated garden, reminiscent of the Japanese art of garden design. In the evening, melt into the sunset mood and dreamily sit in the warmth of the sun's rays.
Slowdown value: Regenerate & rejuvenate
They also took care of holistic relaxation, because after active days, the body needs some extra relaxation. For full body regeneration, you can use Finnish, Bio, or Aroma Turkish sauna. Their Spa is designed in a minimalistic style, but the natural materials of stone and wood give the space a charming, clean, and cozy feeling.
This place is especially welcomed in the winter, when you get warm and then observe the white wonderland from the lounge room overlooking the Gardena Valley.
"The spa has a touch of privacy, as the guests line up at their own pace so that pleasant relaxation can always be found." SLOWDOWN HOTELS
